- NTPC in association with the NVVN will make India's first hydrogen microgrid will come up at Simhadri plant of NTPC Ltd. in Andhra Pradesh
- Simhadri plant is established in Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh is a coal-fired thermal power plant
- NTPC will involve inmhydrogen production using electrolyzer” project at NTPC Simhadri. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has also signed a pact with Union territory of Ladakh
- Green hydrogen is obtained by separting hydrogen and oxygen from water using electrolyzer. On successful exceution, it will be game changer for India's energy requirement and fulfilment.
- This project has been designed in-house by NTPC. As vision of PM Modi of making India carbon nutral by 2070, It would open doors for decarbonising the far-off regions in India like Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K)
- NTPC has current installed capacity of around 67.907 GW
