Smart City Project implementation : Jharkhand tops the list
As per report published by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Jharkhand has topped the list and grabbed 1st position in Smart city implementation project. This included 36 states and UT of India.- Surprisingly Rajasthan achieved 2nd position and climbed 27 ranks. Last year it was ranked 29th.
- Various factors like Fund utlilization, implementation of projects, tenders and progress of ongoing projects accounts for the ranking.
- The project was launched back in 2015 to promote sustainable and inclusive cities and improve social condition and infrastructure in the society.
- Rs 6450 crore was allocated in union budget of 2021-22 for smart city project.
Israel-Hamas agreement on ceasefire : Celebrations begins
- Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire after 12 days of war that claimed hundreds of lives and loss to property.
- The ceasefire between the two sides has come into effect from 2 am on May 21, 2021. The Palestinians across the Gaza Strip were seen celebrating in the streets after the ceasefire decision came into effect on May 21st.
- Israel added, if Hamas retaliates in near future, Isreal will act more voilently than before. The decision came after tremendous international pressure.
- The move was appreciated by everyone and so do Gaza celebtared it with firecrackers and candle lights.
EY Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI): India Ranks Third
- As per report released by consultancy firm Ernst & Young (EY), India's renewable energy sector ranked 3rd in the world. Last year India was ranked 4th.
- India is committed to set up 450 GW for renewable energy power capacity (installed) by 2030. In the last few years India has seen exceptional improvement in renewable energy utilization.
- Rank -1 is maintained by USA followed by China at 2nd position.
- This was 57th RECAI index which took into account 40 countries.
