Over 81% account holders are women; Stand Up India Scheme
- Several schemes were passed by the Ministry of Finance in past 7 years, these schemes comprise of several special provision that empowers the women.
- Stand Up India is one of them.Under Stand Up India Scheme 81% of the account holders are women.These schemes have financially empowered the women to lead a better life and fulfil their dreams.
Stand Up India Scheme
The Stand Up India scheme was launched on April 5, 2016, it was launched in order to promote the entrepreneurship at the grass root level for the empowerment of the economy and the creation of jobs. It seeks to give the institutional credit structure to reach out to undeserved sectors of people such as Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Women Entrepreneurs and seek to enable them to participate in the economic growth of the country. As on February 26, 2021, it has more than 81% of the account sanctioned to the women entrepreneurs.
Australia suspends Defence Cooperation with Myanmar
- The Australian government has suspended its defence cooperation with Myanmar and has decided to redirect the humanitarian aid which Australia was providing to the government of Myanmar.
- The decision was taken by the government of Australia on March 7, 2021, following the military takeover of the government of Myanmar and detention of the Australian citizen
- Earlier in February, the military regime in Myanmar has announced the establishment of a new state Administrative council in which out of 11 members the eight members are from the military itself
Google’s Women Day gift
- On the occasion of International Women Day, Google has launched a new web platform ‘women will’.
- In order for the rural women to become entrepreneurs, this platform will provide its support to 1 million rural women in India.
- Features: It will help the rural woman with its accelerator programmes, business tutorials and mentorship.
- The ‘Women Will’ web portal can be accessed in both English and Hindi. The programme aims at offering guidance to the aspiring women in villages to turn their interests or a hobby into business. In the beginning Google will work with 2,000 Saathis in order to help women turn in to entrepreneurs.
Internet Saathi Programme
The Saathi programme was launched by Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai in the year 2015, this programme had the goal to provide digital literacy training to women across villages.
